Barbara Thompson was married to an Australian Vietnam veteran and she wrote to me saying he died a terrible death from his service in the Vietnam war.... agent orange was the culprit.
She remarried Mark Day and they continued with the Patsy Cline show until her passing 27th September 2013. She is at rest with members of her family at Grafton.
Barbara was a founding country music artist of the "sing for kids" music CD where like other Australian and New Zealand artists she had donated a song which she said, was her husbands favourite " You Belong To Me" All funds from this special compilation CD helps agent orange children and there are over 300,000 kids who are agent orange victims with disability and deformities in Vietnam. All from toxic dioxin chemicals authorised, supplied and sprayed by Australian, New Zealand and American Governments using their military agents commit what many Vietnam veterans and wives say, its use is an unresolved war crime.
A free Memorial show will be held in her memory and for other Vietnam veterans who have died at young ages at Surfers Paradise RSL Club 27th September 2015 @ 1pm.
Mark Day will start the show with myself and other artists who loved what Barbara Thompson gave as a wife, mother and a professional country music artist and humanitarian. Lyn Stead & Sandi who recently became widowed are wives of Vietnam veterans from South Australia. They will sing and pay their tribute.
Sing For Kids Cd's will be on sale at the show and all funds will be donated to www.artists for orphans.org Feel free to check out the site and work that is done from Australian contributions.
